Worksite International: Frequently Asked Questions

1. What differentiates Worksite International from the competition?
Our dedication to customer service sets us apart from our competition as well as a number of other factors. Our experience as physical therapists dealing with work injured employees is the another critical difference. In addition, our knowledge regarding the interrelationship of safety, ergonomics, workers’ compensation and the ADA gives you the edge you need to reduce your liability regarding these often volatile issues. Furthermore, we seek to justify our services through measurable outcomes regarding the success of our programs. We often present information and articles or other publications to show the results of our work. Two recent published works include the ergonomics process kit, “Your Guide to Developing An Ergonomics Process” and “Your Guide To Office Ergonomic Furniture and Accessories” self-published through Worksite International. Worksite International has also sought out a third-party accreditation for its system of ergonomics analysis and training from the Oxford Research Institute, one of two national boards who certify Ergonomists. We received a 5 Star Seal of Ergonomics Excellence from the ORI. No other provider can offer client’s this level of assurance in validity of service delivery. Back to Questions.

2. What is Ergonomics?
Ergonomics is the relationship between you and your work/home environment, which includes the tools and materials you use, the tasks you perform and the environment in which you perform the work. Back to Questions.

3. How does ergonomics relate to workers’ compensation?
Injuries and illnesses sustained at your workplace are usually caused or aggravated by work tasks. These are reported and usually paid under your workers’ compensation insurance. A majority of these work injuries are preventable using ergonomics strategies. By evaluating the relationship between the worker and the work, key ergonomics strategies are identified and implemented to eliminate or minimize additional risk. Back to Questions.

4. Why should our company be concerned about ergonomics?
If you are a California based company, you should know about the Cal-OSHA Repetitive Motion Injury regulation, which went into effect July 3, 1997. The regulation stipulates you must implement an ergonomics program if you meet the scope of the regulation. Check out the web site for more information at www.dir.ca.gov. If you are an employer located outside of California, there is now Federal guidelines to support ergonomics as well as standards in place for Washington State. Other states such as Arizona, Oregon and Minnesota are developing their own regulations. Back to Questions.

5. What are some other reasons to use ergonomics in the workplace?
As an employer, you have a moral obligation to provide a safe workplace. Not only that, Fed-OSHA’s general duty clause mandates it. You also have strong financial motivation to use ergonomics for both injury prevention and management. With the average cost of a work injury between $4,000 and $10,000, you have a lot to lose. Not only in direct costs, but employee morale and productivity is significantly impacted as well. Along with these costs, it is anticipated you will spend 4 to 10 times more on training, replacement, supervisory time and other losses during the time your injured worker is recovering. Back to Questions.

6. Does Worksite International track the results of my ergonomics program?
We strive to provide the best available services to you that are outcome oriented and measurable. The best results come from those clients that commit to ergonomics over time and our services. Over the years, we have helped our clients save from $2.00 to $13.00 per dollar invested, reduce their workers’ compensation costs by 87%, their premium by 35%, facilitate employee behavior change and cultural change towards safety throughout the organization. Speak to our clients to find out first hand how ergonomics has benefited them. Back to Questions.

7. How does Worksite International price it’s services?
When you decide to commit to our services, we will provide a customized proposal of the services you are interested in. The proposal is based on a conceptual agreement between your organization and ours to provide the services you need to meet your company’s objectives regarding ergonomics and workers’ compensation management. Based on the products and services selected and the time period in which they will be delivered, Worksite International “value prices” your customized plan. Your investment can be secured by deposit and paid monthly, annually or specifically designed to meet your payment needs. We lay out all the terms within a simple agreement signed between Worksite International and your organization. Back to Questions.

9. Does Worksite International guarantee it’s products and services?
We believe you will be completely satisfied with our products or services the first time they are delivered to you. If you are not completely satisfied, we will work with you until we have rectified the problem and you are 100% satisfied. In the nine years we have been in business, we have a 99% satisfaction rating from our clients as reported to us. Back to Questions.

10. What is the difference between Worksite International and the loss control/claims management services provided through my workers’ compensation insurance carrier?
We encourage you to take advantage of the services offered by your insurance company, since you have technically paid for them. In most instances, however, the prevention or loss control services are bundled in with your premiums. As a result, these “free” services are usually provided at an introductory level and are often “check list oriented”. The services are often delivered in a few short hours by an agent of the company who has likely, hundreds of accounts, just like you and may not have the skills and experience you demand. When you commit to our services, we provide a level of service far beyond a few hours and a check-list approach. We provide detailed analysis and training to you and your employees to encourage internal self-reliance, self-care and self-responsibility. Our services are offered along a range of intensity for you. At Worksite International we can catch all the fish for you or teach you to fish for yourself. You decide the level of intervention that best meets your needs. In addition, each of our clients is our only client and therefore treated as such. Back to Questions.
