Monterey, CA January 30, 2012:  Alison Heller-Ono, President and CEO of Worksite International Inc. has been invited as the international keynote speaker at the 13th Annual National Workers’ Compensation Summit 2012 in Melbourne, Australia. http://www.nationalworkerscomp.com.au/ . The conference is sponsored by IIR Conferences, http://www.iir.com.au/ . On Feb. 20, 2012, Ms. Heller-Ono will present the strategy and benefits of an ergonomics process in preventing and managing work injuries. Her presentation, “Building a Safe and Healthy Work Culture through Participatory Ergonomics” will focus on the critical factors necessary to launch a proactive, collaborative ergonomics process that drives positive changes in any organization. Her presentation will highlight a three (3) year case study of using the Worksite International ergonomics process showing dramatic reduction in repetitive motion injuries resulting in significant cost and claim reductions in workers’ compensation for a gov’t entity with 4500 employees. With over 550 injuries prevented through early intervention, the average 3 year return on investment is approximately $15.00 saved for every $1.00 invested in the process.

 October 15, 2010: Alison Heller-Ono’s article “PT as Ergonomist: A model for 21st Century Healthcare” is published in the Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Practice quarterly magazine of the Orthopaedic section of the APTA. Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Practice (OPTP) is the official peer-reviewed magazine of the Orthopaedic Section of the American Physical Therapy Association and is distributed nationwide to all APTA Orthopaedic section members.

 On January 26, 2009, Alison Heller-Ono received notice that she was awarded the prestigious Certificate as a Professional Ergonomist (CPE) by the Board of Certified Professional Ergonomics (BCPE). To read the press release from the BCPE, click here.  Alison has been a Board Certified Industrial Ergonomist since 1996 awarded to her by the Oxford Research Institute and a Certified Disability Analyst by the American Board of Disability Analysts since 1997.
 Beginning January 5, 2009, Alison Heller-Ono will be the Ergonomics Manager full time for the County of Monterey. Alison is still accepting referrals and providing services through Worksite International on her own time utilizing competent sub-contractors to assist with services.  Beginning December 3, 2007, Heller-Ono was hired as part time Ergonomics Manager for the County of Monterey.  Alison will split her time  Monday-Wednesday for the county and Thursday-Friday for Worksite International. Services continue by appointment only on a limited basis. She became full time with the County of Monterey in January 2009.

Heller-Ono has been selected as a guest speaker at PREMUS 2007, the Sixth International Scientific Conference on the Prevention of Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders.
The conference begins on August 26-30, 2007 in Boston, MA at the Harvard Medical Conference Center. PREMUS is an international scientific conference that serves as a forum for work-related musculoskeletal health research with an emphasis on prevention of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). The participants include international experts in the field, such as scientists, practitioners in occupational health and safety, ergonomists, economists, industrial engineers, and policy makers. The goal of PREMUS is to present and discuss the latest research. All keynote speakers are by invitation only and are recognized for their leadership and their international expertise. All presentations go through a peer review process ensuring high quality of research. As a result, PREMUS is the premier conference for work-MSDs.Over the past 20 years, PREMUS has been organized every three years. PREMUS 2007 is the first time the conference will be held in the United States.

Alison will present twelve years of successful outcomes using ergonomics methods in her paper, “Preventive ergonomic strategies demonstrate substantial cost benefit for small to mid-size employers”. She will discuss three case studies that focus on developing an ergonomics process with a team approach for in-house expertise; consultant lead preventive ergonomic analysis for employees with early symptoms and preventive ergonomic analysis combined with ergonomics training for employees. Alison’s results reveal a substantial cost-benefit for each case demonstrating a return on investment of $2.00 to $34.00 for every dollar invested by clients.

Worksite International Relocates to New Corporate Office to launch twelve years of service:  On December 13, 2004 Worksite International relocated to 887 Abrego Street to launch it’s 12th year in business. The company has closed the ergonomic product showroom after 4 years and has decided to simply offer all services onsite at client locations. Alison Heller-Ono receives CMC:

Alison has been a member of the Institute for Management Consultants (IMC) since 1999. Her participation in the Northern California chapter has provided her with unique experiences that have contributed to her skills and experiences as a management consultant. Alison was awarded the Certified Management Consultant (CMC) designation by the IMC this past May, 2001. The IMC is the only program that certifies management consultants. Alison successfully completed the application process, ethics board exam and panel interview process, an 18 month journey, that yielded her CMC. Alison is now the only Physical Therapist and Certified Industrial Ergonomist as well as Certified Disability Analyst in the country designated as a CMC. The CMC appellation is the preeminent designation earned in the management consulting profession.

Ergonomics Training Course for Physical and Occupational Therapists Awarded 5 Star Seal of Excellence in Ergonomics.

Worksite International’s training course ” Ergonomics Training Program” an introductory ergonomics workshop for Physical and Occupational Therapists has recently been accredited by the Oxford Research Institute and may display the 5 Star Seal of Approval, “Tested for Ergonomic Excellence”. The training materials are based on her work, “Your Guide to Developing an Ergonomics Process” published by Lewis Publishers. The workshop will be part of a site-licensing program of ergonomic analysis and training available exclusively through Worksite International. Ms. Heller has taught a similar program based on the book over the last 5 years with great success to employers across the country that have desired to establish an Ergonomics Task Force for in-house expertise and ergonomics process management.

Oxford Research Institute is an independent, non-profit accrediting and certification corporation which provides third party independent testing of ergonomic tools, tasks procedures, training, management and ergonomics professionals to assure excellence in ergonomics and to set standards/benchmarks for the industry.  The materials were reviewed and assessed for content validity. It is the first non-university ergonomics training course for Physical Therapists to be fully accredited.  

This course and accreditation is no longer active as of December 2006.
