Analysis

As a core component of most safety and

ergonomic regulations, employers need to

determine the extent of the risk factors and

other pertinent issues. This is best done through

ergonomic worksite analysis or other critical

evaluations to identify the relationship between

the worker and the work environment.

Our analyses are put into an objective reliable

and  accurate format to serve as a medical legal

document when necessary and as a plan of action

for in-house changes.

Ergonomic Worksite Analysis: Three Levels

Worksite International offers three levels of individual Ergonomic Worksite Analyses  to choose from that go beyond your in-house safety or employee health services.

Our Level I- Preventive Evaluation is designed for new hires and employees without any significant signs or symptoms. Our effective 15 point ANSI derived checklist reviews all essential components of an ergonomically correct workstation in 30 minutes. Products that are needed are identified and recommended. Employees receive brief education and are provided with job aides to remind them of proper workstation ergonomics. Onsite reporting is available immediately upon completion of the service giving you "just in time" information to respond effectively to employee needs.

Our Level II—Brief Ergonomic Evaluation and Report is designed for early symptom management (prevention) and/or medical only claims and is a more formal report of relevant findings and control measures provided to the employer onsite upon completion of the service. A typed written report is available upon request to the adjuster, physician or other. This is usually a 60-90 minute evaluation.

Our Level III—Comprehensive Ergonomic Worksite Analysis and Report is a more comprehensive evaluation designed for difficult workers’ compensation cases that have both medical and indemnity associated with them. This is usually a 2-2.5 hour evaluation with extensive reporting that will stand up to medical/legal scrutiny as a valid and objective report.

Worksite International also provides ergonomic analysis for department focused groups, tasks or job processes. We are able to analyze basic office to highly technical environments in biotech, biopharmaceutical, high technology, medical and many other industries.

To request an on-site evaluation download a work request form  from our resources page (click here).

Technical Analysis: Worksite International has been performing technical ergonomic worksite analysis since our inception to assist our non-office based clients. This analysis covers material handling, assembly processes, complex work environments, biopharmaceutical processes, clinical laboratory environments and other technical work environments that involve material handling, hand assembly work, repetitive manual tasks, high visual demands and other exposures to workers. We use validated ergonomic tools from University backed research such as NIOSH, RULA, Strain Index, REBA and HAL to validate our findings and recommendations. Our expertise in technical report writing combined with our "turn-key" approach provides you with a comprehensive study that allows you and your support staff to implement the recommendations in a timely manner so that you can achieve the goals you set out to by reducing injuries and improving productivity.

Facility Planning with Ergonomics

Facility planning is a systematic approach for developing the physical

setting of an organization or institution. Changing the way space is used

affects the way staff works and feels. The efficiency and effectiveness of

the staff ultimately affects the health and profitability of your business.  It

helps an organization manage one of its most important assets, the space it

occupies.

This service looks at how the physical setting supports (or hinders) its goals,

objectives and daily activities. In addition, the planning can anticipate and

substantially reduce the risk of injuries to your workers with the integration

of ergonomics into the plan.

Before you renovate, let Worksite International assist you with your preliminary facility

plans to achieve the kind of physical environment you need.

ADA Reasonable Accommodation Assessment

Our goal at Worksite International is to assist both the employer and the employee in

resolving these highly sensitive and specialized issues regarding disability.

We help you find all reasonable accommodations so that your employees

can return to gainful employment with their disability without undue

hardship or fear of direct threat to you or them. This service helps you

avoid ADA Title I violations and subsequent lawsuits filed under the

CA FEHA and EEOC, while creating a win/win situation for both

parties. In addition, Worksite International's medical legal reports are defensible

should your case unfortunately proceed to arbitration or court.

Ergonomics Process Performance Audit

Government compliance with safety and health programs is a concern for many

of today's organizations. With the recent changes in Cal-OSHA's RMI standard

encompassing all employers in California, the proposed Federal OSHA

Ergonomics regulation expected in 2001 and Washington state as well as

North Carolina releasing their own compliance standards, employers need

to be assured that their programs meet the criteria in theses standards.

Worksite International offers a comprehensive performance based Ergonomics Process

Audit that reviews all the essential elements required relative to the current state of your program

and provides you with an objective measurable score that you can improve

over time. We can then further assist you in meeting compliance once your

areas of need are identified.

Telecommuter Ergonomics

Recent changes in work trends in the 90's have prompted many employers to

change their work practices and allow employees to work from their own

home offices. This however does not exempt the employer from OSHA

regulations at the employee's home. We'll go on-site or assist the employees

in auditing their home office. We evaluate the ergonomics of the home office

and perform a general safety inspection to provide you with the assurance

and recommendations you need to support a strong telecommuter policy.

Job Description Development/Job Analysis

Worksite International has been providing ADA compliant job descriptions to
businesses for over 9 years to assist with hiring employees, placement of
employees, developing pre-hire screening programs and for Return to Work
programs. Our job descriptions identify the purpose of the job, essential
and marginal functions, knowledge and skill requirements, physical and
mental demands as well as environmental exposures for explicit documentation
of job requirements. In addition, we are objective in our process through
our exclusive format that includes interview, site measures and consensus
building so that you are assured of the most accurate job description
possible.

Back Safety Training

Our customized back safety training classes will guarantee you results

based on our unique training process. We know how difficult it is to get

your workers to change their unsafe work behaviors. Many times, workers

are not even aware that they are practicing unsafely or putting themselves

at risk. That's why we offer customized, participatory classes that involve

your workers and their supervisors in the education and training process from

start to finish. Best of all, our instructors are experts in preventing work

injuries and keeping your workers safe and you in compliance with

California safety regulations.

Executive Seminars For Managers and Supervisors

Injury prevention, ergonomics and disability management is an internal

process  that allows you to actually take control of your workers'

compensation claims and costs instead of giving it away to your healthcare

providers and insurance company. Through a variety of well thought out

strategies, managers and supervisors are in a better position to respond

appropriately to work injuries, avoiding the possibility of litigation or citations.

Training includes understanding the work injury process, responding to

the first minutes of the injury and providing assistance to employees

with early signs and symptoms or work injury.

Ergonomics Workshop For Office, Laboratory Or Industrial Workers

Our Ergonomics Workshops are customized based on the participants job tasks and work environment. We develop our objectives to match the work routines, materials handled and tasks peformed by your employees and also assure you Cal-OSHA compliance based on the 5110 guidelines for prevention of repetitive motion. Our highly rated workshops explain the

concept of ergonomics to your workers and how it applies to them in

the office, laboratory or industrial environment. In addition, the program explains

the risk factors that lead to repetitive motion or cumulative trauma.

Early warning signs and symptoms are explained with a pro-active

approach to encourage workers to take care of themselves before their

symptoms worsen or they feel the need to file a workers' compensation

claim. Strong emphasis is placed on setting up the work area correctly and using all ergonomic equipment effectively to include the chair/stool, keyboard tray, keyboard/mouse, monitor, documents and other essential tools. Our lab ergonomics class offers specific training on pipette use, microscope and bio-safety hood use. The class includes safe work practices, easy stretches to perform in the workplace and other self- care methods.

"Evaluating Your Workplace" Office Ergonomics Workshop

Our "Evaluating Your Workplace" Workshop takes a strong participatory

approach to ergonomics in the office environment. In this workshop,

employees actually perform their own worksite analysis and rate seven

criteria in their work environment. Employees learn the importance of the

relationship between themselves and their workstation. This workshop

emphasizes how to arrange the work station to minimize the risk factors

in the workplace and offers low cost alternatives to buying new equipment.

Once completed, the employer has a baseline assessment to plan

ergonomic interventions in the future. This workshop uses the Ergonomics

Participatory Evaluation Tools and can be done online or using hard

copy tools.

Participatory Ergonomics Workshop

This highly successful workshop combines the lecture format of the RMI

prevention workshop  with training for your employees to evaluate their

own workstations. After the two hour training employees evaluate their

work areas using our participatory evaluation tool. Employees rate their

concerns and make practical changes immediately following the training.

Data collected is interpreted for management to better understand the

department's prioritized ergonomic needs and concerns for future

program and budget development.

"Train the Evaluator" Ergonomics Workshop

Many companies do not desire a formalized team approach to ergonomics.

As a result, we have taken the core analysis system of our process guide,

"Your Guide to Developing an Ergonomics Process" and created a

customized in-house workshop focusing on training onsite evaluators only.

The courses range from 1-3 days in length and provide ergonomic theory

and practice, participatory exercises, real-life examples and an ergonomics

laboratory for employees to gain hands on experience in performing an

ergonomic worksite analysis upon completion of the course.
